Implementation of Curriculum in Teacher Education

This course is open to School Associates working with New Caledonia
Teacher Education Consortium (NEW CALTEC) or Northwest Teacher
Education Consortium (NWTEC) in the 1990-91 school year who have been
accepted as students at Simon Fraser University.
Description
The course has two components:
a)
the instructional component consists of involvement in the School
Associate Orientation Sessions which are held in the NEW CALTEC or
NWTEC Districts during the 1990-91 school year. It is in these sessions
that participants will examine and articulate their practice and begin the
process of developing strategies to introduce student teachers to the
knowledge and practice of teaching and learning.
b)
the classroom component consists of reflection on and analysis of the
work with student teachers in the School Associate's school and
classroom.
Outcomes
1.
participants will keep a reflective journal of their experience as teacher
educators (50%)
2.
participants will devise a method for receiving feedback from their
student teacher(s) as to his or her (their) perception(s) of the semester
experience (20%)
3.
participants will devise a method to demonstrate their evaluation and
analysis of the School Associate work relating it to some of the literature
on teacher education. Required readings will be supplied. (30%)
The manner in which these outcomes are demonstrated to the instructor is
open to negotiation between the instructor and the participant.
