COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The course will attempt to recast the advantageous elements of the Year 2000
documents in the context of current changes in educational practice; and to acquaint
beginning teachers with techniques for effectively accommodating the "best of Year
2000" within the new requirements.
The objectives of the course are to track the elements of perspective and procedure
that have been changed subsequent to the initiation of the Year 2000 "philosophy."
Of significance are the concepts of: pedagogical accountability (assessment and
reporting); inclusive schooling; identification of special learning needs; teacher
decision-making; and collaborative leadership.
This will be a "one time only" offering. The course is designed for beginning
teachers who might be experiencing dissonance resulting from the recent changes to
the Year 2000 initiatives.
