Educ. 401/402 or equivalent.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The course will study the complex array of educative endeavours which meld
mind and language, from foundational theory to classroom teaching, from
science to drama and from aesthetic display to student learning. The format will
be public lectures given by speakers not only from this university, but also from
the rest of Canada, the U.S.A. and Great Britain. The lectures will be followed
by seminars during which he issues raised will be analyzed and discussed. A
series of workshops with some of the speakers is also being organized.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS::
Students will be expected to attend all lectures and participate fully in the
seminars. They will also be required to write a series of critiques as well as a
major paper. Readings based on the speaker's lectures will be made available.
