The students who entered school in 1988 will be the graduating class of the year 2000. The 20th

century dawned in the full flower of the Industrial Era. It will end at the beginning of an Information
?
Age. Technology and Science have worked together to transform the lives of all people now alive.
?
They have created rich opportunities and grave dangers. The Information Era will see Science and
?
Technology directed and employed in different ways from the Industrial Age. Nevertheless, to
?
participate effectively as citizens of the 21st Century students will have to develop the skills and
?
characters required to control and direct technology to positive purposes for the welfare of all life
?
on this planet To teach these skills teachers will need to develop new ideas and strategies. They
?
will have to learn about technological trends and scientific currents themselves and recognize the
?
significance of these to current science education, K-12. Education 390 is being offered to help with
?

EDUCATION 390: SPECIAL TOPICS IN

This is a newly developed course open to

Credit and Non-Credit students. It may be applied
?
to Degree Completion of may be used in
?
conjunction with an approved Extended Studies
?
Diploma by persons already having an Undergraduate
?
Degree.
This course is being offered in Intersession, May-June,
?
in the Okanagan Valley, at S.F.U.'s TeIe-Learnlng
?
Centre. It will be offered in Summer Session, on
?
Campus in Burnaby. To facilitate teachers who wish to
?
enrol the course will occupy 6 Saturdays of study.
?
The dates will be:

APRIL30, MAY 14, MAY 28, JUNE 11,18, &25.

All sessions will be based at the S.F.U. Centre

on the campus of Okanagan College, Kelowna.
