PREREQUISITES
Participation in the introductory workshop and week long peer leadership program
sponsored by the Educational Technology Centre (see enclosed program).
DESCRIPTION OF COURSE
The course provides a structure for students to conduct a field-based implementation
project which focuses on staff development, integration of technology and change in
schools. Students will work on individual projects (with support from the instructor)
using their classroom and school as a laboratory. Ongoing discussion on related
topics will be carried out using a computer mediated communication system.
OBJECTIVES
The course encourages students, in consultation with the instructor, to identify a focus
of interest and design an implementation project. The students will participate in
technology and staff development sessions, design and implement a project and
evaluate the results (note goals and themes in the enclosed ETC program).

Selected articles on implementation articles assigned by the instructor, depending on
the individual project focus.
STUDENT ASSIGNMENTS
-
Completion of an approved, field-based implementation plan.
- Participation in the ongoing, computer mediated class discussions.
- Implementation of the project in their classroom, school or district.
- Completion of a portfolio including:
- double entry journal
- feedback file
- culminating paper
STUDENT ASSESSMENT AND GRADING PROCEDURE
Students will be evaluated on:
- the completion of their field-based implementation project
- the quality of the portfolio assignments
- on-line participation
