    Behaviour Disorders and Classroom Management
    COURSE DESCRIPTION
    This institute will introduce participants to the nature of emotional disturbance and behaviour disorders in children.
    Participants will gain information which will enable them to make decisions about the education and treatment of
    emotionally disturbed children in schools. The institute will include information about approaches to teaching, the nature
    of professional services, and ethical issues associated with providing educational services.
    INSTRUCTOR PROFILE
    Brenda Townsend is presently Assistant Professor, Department of Special Education, University of South California and
    Site Co-ordinator, Department of Special Education, School Restructuring Grant. She has taught both regular Education
    (K-8) and Emotional Impairment classes (K-12) in Michigan.
    Townsend has offered many presentations such as, Facilitating Social Skills Instruction with African Males at Risk for
    Gang Membership, Building Mentor-Protege Relationships and Diversity in the Workplace, and has co-authored several
    articles.
