    COURSE DESCRIPTION
    This course is for qualified teachers wishing to expand their knowledge and teaching competence of the acquisition and
    use of language by children with special needs. Students will learn to recognize and understand language disorders in
    children and the emphasis will be on identification diagnosis and prognosis. Practical implications for classroom
    intervention programs will be included.
    INSTRUCTOR PROFILE
    Dr. Fulmer has 20 years lecturing experience in Australian and Canadian Universities. Her work has involved children
    with special needs and she has published books and teaching materials for teachers of mainstreamed children.
    COURSE REQUIREMENTS
    Three assessments are required. These include: a critique of a current research article, an intervention program to be
    developed during the course, and a short in-class exercise beased on specific readings.
    READINGS
    A set of readings will be available from the instructor.
    Students should prepare for the course by reading information about the development of language in children.
