COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course provides a general understanding of health concepts, health behaviours, and health
concerns of school-aged children and at-risk youth. It provides the background information, content,
and skills that both prospective teachers and interested community members need to help implement
comprehensive school health education in the schools. State-of-the-art information is provided on
fundamental health content, safe and healthful school environment, coordinated school health
programs, and instructional strategies and technologies to promote health within the school and
community engaging all levels of stakeholders. Students will have the opportunity to achieve personal
health literacy, while being committed to promoting student health literacy.
