COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course provides a general understanding of health concepts, health behaviors, and health concerns of
school-aged children and at-risk youth. It provides the background information, content, and skills teachers
need to implement comprehensive school health education in the schools. State-of-the-art information is
provided on fundamental health content, safe and healthful school environment, comprehensive school health
programs, and instructional strategies and technologies to promote health within the school and community.
Students will have the opportunity to achieve teacher health literacy, while being committed to promoting
student health literacy.
