You will be expected to keep a professional

bi-weekly
reflective journal containing I entry of
substantial thought per week. Topics for
consideration may be self-chosen or assigned
from readings, activities or discussions.
2.
By Sept. 25, choose an educational topic of

interest to you, which you can research. During
the last two class sessions you will present this
to us in a mini-lesson.
A three to five page written report on the topic ?

will also be required as a final paper.
3.
Write a summary of each assigned observation ?

and collect with your observation notes in a

Each class member will be responsible for

planning and teaching a short opening activity,

A lesson plan should be written. Students will
be paired to plan and prepare their activities.
The partner will be responsible for videotaping
the lesson. A thoughtful self-evaluation of the
video should be written and turned in together
with the lesson plan.

Each class member will be responsible for

videotaped and the video should be reviewed

Chapters from Looking in Classrooms, 5th edition by Thomas L. Good and
Jere E. Brophy, Harper Collins, 1991, will serve as the primary text for the
course.
As well, the books, Among Schoolchildren by Tracy Kidder and Why do we
gotta do this stuff, Mr. Nehring? by James Nehring will be read.
Photocopied readings from professional journals and books will also be
assigned from time to time.
