Examines new developments and current issues in teaching and educational practice.
This course will survey a number of issues and new developments in secondary
education including: Social Issues (race, class, gender); Confronting Cultural Taboos
(sex, religion, politics); and Teacher Decision-Making (curriculum, evaluation,
methods). Site lectures will be discussed in seminars. Issues and developments will
be discussed within the context of the secondary classroom.
Two critiques, two oral presentations, and a short position paper will be required.
