The course provides the student with an opportunity to review recent
research findings in teaching, and to consider their practical imple-
mentation. ?
In addition, time is devoted to as yet unresolved issues
such as teaching and learning styles, individualization, and alternative
approaches to grading. Students will become familiar with the arguments
relating to mastery teaching, time-on-task, direct instruction, and
various approaches to student motivàtiôn. Finally, the course will
consider artistic aspects of teaching, the relationship between teaching
and theatre, and the concept of teaching as a performing art. Specific
attention is given to ways of translating theory into practice.
