PREREQUISITES:
Education 341 and Education 342
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
The primary purpose of this course is to provide an opportunity for students to
work with adults in a literacy instruction situation. A secondary objective is to
review contemporary literacy instruction methods and techniques as they
apply to practicum situations.
COURSE FORMAT
The course consists of:
a)
weekly two-hour class meetings
b)
thirty hours of practicum
Subsequent weekly meetings, practicum locations and times to be decided
during this first class.

In addition to these required texts, the instructor will provide a list of
recommended readings.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
Student evaluation will be based on:
- completion of all the practicum hours, as agreed to with the instructor, and
writing of required reports (50%)
- observations of practicum sessions by the instructor (30%)
- attendance to and participation in
all
class meetings (20%)
