OBJECTIVES:
The primary purpose of this course is to provide an opportunity for students
to work with adults in a literacy instruction situation. A secondary objective is
to review contemporary literacy instruction methods and techniques as they
apply to practicum situations.
FORMAT:
The course consists of:
a)
weekly two-hour class meetings.
b)
thirty hours of practicum.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
Student evaluation will be based on:
- Completion of all the practicum hours, as agreed to with the instructor,
and writing of required reports (50%)
- Three observations of practicum sessions by the instructor (30%)
- Attendance to and participation in all the class meetings (20%)

In addition to these required texts, the instructor will provide a list of
recommended readings.
