PREREQUISITE:
EDUC 401/402 or one of EDUC 100, 220, 230, 240.
DESCRIPTION
This course will introduce the student to contemporary approaches to classroom management and discipline as well
as school-wide discipline initiatives. Using lectures, discussion, and small group activities the many issues and
skills involved in effective management and discipline will be examined. Students will be encouraged to look at
and clarify their own values and goals concerning classroom management and to focus on how they plan to create
positive and productive learning environments.
EVALUATION
Final Grades will be based on a variety of sources that may include some or all of the following:
Attendance and participation
Critique of weekly readings
Midterm Exam or Final Exam
Small group in-class presentation
Teacher/Administrator interview
Term Paper
