DESCRIPTION
In this course we will examine critically the Integrated Resource Packages that guide teaching in

and our evaluation of resources. We will study the IRPs in Mathematics, Science, Language Arts,
and Social Studies. If students have a particular interest in the Fine Arts or Physical Education, these
documents can be included. Within the IRPs, we will examine the learning outcomes, the
instructional strategies, the suggested assessment strategies, and the proposed resources always
using constructivism as our conceptual-dens.
OBJECTIVES
1.
To enable students to learn and incorporate the theory of constructivism in their planning and in
their evaluation of curriculum resources.
2.
To enable students to examine with a critical eye the curriculum documents available to them.
3.
To familiarise students with certain British Columbia learning outcomes and possible
instructional strategies including assessment and evaluation.
4.
To engage students in a wide variety of the activities suggested to them in the documents
through activities such as conversation, discussion, debate, reporting, media, role-play, field
trips, and co-operative activities.
5.
To engage students in the development of curriculum resource binders for use when they are
teaching.
