This course will focus on the relation between
school and society, critically examining the intentions
of educators, the methods used, and the content
taught in schools. Some central issues will be
indoctrination, compulsory education, alternative
schools, rights in education, equality of opportunity,
cultural pluralism, racial and sexual discrimination,
the relation between educational and social change.
