COURSE OUTLINE:
The focus of this course is to promote understanding of the theories of educational psychology that
pertain to motivation, learning, development and individual differences. Psychological developmental
theories have been fundamental to understanding theory and practice. It is thus essential that all teacher
candidates understand major developmental theories and how these inform teaching practices. There
will be an emphasis on the practical application of the theoretical and empirical issues of educational
psychology in the classroom.
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA:
Evaluation of students will be based on a number of criteria. These will include application case studies,
weekly journals, journal facilitation, development of an activity and a final exam.
