    Range of Topics
    Psychological approaches to motivation, learning, child development and evaluation
    will be identified and their relevance and applicability to educational practice
    will be developed.
    Psychological issues to be dealt with will include the following:
    -- intrinsic vs. extrinsic control of learning
    -- individual differences: identifying learning strategies; psychological con-
    ceptions of the student
    -- alternative educational environments
    -- evaluation and measurement: intelligence testing, teacher expectations,
    psychological effects of testing
    Reading
    The following text will be required. It can be purchased in the bookstore:
    Biehier, Robert F. Psychology Applied to Teaching. Boston: Houghton
    Mifflin, (second edition).
    In addition, a list of recommended readings for specific topics will be distributed
    the first week of lectures.
