Revision of 1.3.2 Admission to a Graduate Diploma Program
    Motion
That SGSC recommend to Senate the revision of GGR 1.3.2 which outlines the criteria for admission to a
    graduate diploma program.
    Rationale
SGSC wants to clarify the admission requirements for entry into a graduate diploma to reflect our current
practice in regards to the admission standard in terms of CGPA where programs have been applying a
minimum of 2.5 CGPA for admission. In addition, many institutions currently either only use an UD
GPA, or the last 60 UD GPA, or they use a CGPA. Given that many students struggle in their first year at
university, it seemed reasonable to add an option of admission based on UD GPA. Further, a number of
three-year bachelor's degrees are emerging world-wide and while SGSC may consider admitting students
from three year degrees into our graduate programs, it was felt that a statement that bachelor'sdegrees
considered to be equivalent to SFU would allow for this possibility but emphasize the normal standard.
