CMPT 898 Graduate Course Minor Change - Rationale
1.) Rationale for increasing the units for the CMPT 898 MSc thesis from 6 to 15.
In conjunction with
the requirement for 15 units of coursework for the thesis option of
the Computing Science
MSc program, this would bring the total units for the degree
program to
the recognized 30 unit standard. Note that this would better reflect the
relative expectations of
thesis and project options in Computing Science, with CMPT 897
MSc Project remaining at 6 credits.

ENSC 898 Graduate Course Minor Change - Rationale
1. Rationale for increasing the units for the ENSC 898 MASc thesis from 6 to 18.
In conjunction with the requirement for 12 units of coursework for the thesis option ofthe
Engineering Science MASc program, this would bring the total units for the degree program
to the recognized
30 unit standard. Note that the MASc program description has long
included a reference to an
18-unit thesis, with the current 6-unit weight being an
artifact
of the introduction of SIMS.
