Attached is a memo dated August 19, 2010 from Dr. Daniel Shapiro, recommending
that the
W.J. VanDusen B.C. Business Studies Institute be dissolved.
I recommend that the W.J. VanDusen B.C. Business Studies Institute be granted
approval to dissolve.
Once approved by SCUP the recommendation
~hould
be sent to
Senate and the Board
of Governors for infonnation.
Motion:
That SCUP approves the dissolution of

We are
in
the process of asking SCUP to support a change
in
the W.J. VanDusen Endo\Vment's
Terms of Reference. To facilitate this change
in
the terms of reference, we need your assistance
in
putting forward the paperwork to dissolve the BC Business Studies Institute, originally established to
meet the mandate
of the W.J. VanDusen Endowment.
Our
plan is to send our request to alter the endowment's terms of reference to SCUP's September
meeting. If SCUP supports our request for the change in the VanDusen terms of reference, we
would like the terms to be placed
on the October Senate meeting's agenda.
Sarah Dench, Vice President Academic's office, has indicated it would best if the paperwork to
dissolve the
BC Business Studies Institute could go to the same SCUP meeting as the change in
terms
of reference. Could you please assist us
in
having the Institute's dissolution paperwork sent to
the September
SCUP meeting?
