REPORT OF SENATE COMMITTEE ON KINESIOLOGY
    In
its meeting on March 7th, 1967, the Senate Committee on
Kinesiology met with all members present except the representative
from the Faculty of Arts. The committee discussed its terms of
reference. It was of the opinion that the motion in Senate by which
it was constituted was sufficiently vague to allow a variety of inter-
pretations regarding the actual role of the committee. The committee
decided to interpret its duties as set out in the following 4 points, and
has instructed the Chairman to present this interpretation to Senate
    for ratification.
    1.
    (a) The Committees recommendations on curriculum
shall be submitted to Senate. Departments and/or
    Faculties need not concur.
    (b) Recommendations to Senate that specific courses
of the Kinesiology program be offered by certain
Departments should be made after consultation
    with the Departments concerned.
    2.
    Any budgetary
    '
    recommendations required to
implement the curriculum, facilities and/or staff
recommendations of the Committee shall be
    submitted to Senate.
    3.
Hiring of staff to handle this program is the
    responsibility of the Departments concerned.
If Departments experience conflicts of interests
as a result of specific appointments, they are to
bring the matter before this Committee for
    resolution of such conflicts.
    4.
This Committee has the responsibility of re-
commending to Senate the degree requirements
    for the Kinesiology program.
    • • •
If Senate feels unable to ratify this interpretation under which
the committee is now operating, the Chairman was asked to request more
specific instructions and directions from Senate.,,
