    I entered the University when it opened in the arts program
    - /
    and in the

    first two. semesters had a B average.
    My aim was education and in July •I
    was accepted to P.D.P. On September 12th I went to an
    / , elementary school
    with three other teachers to the grade three and four room. I read the bible
    at a few lessons. Mr. Birch was watching and after that lesson I was brought
    to the University and cross examined by five people in the University. Dr.
    Harper apparently approved and after one h ur I was told to go back. I had
    a few more lessons which Mrs. Kruger (?) watched and she left and after
    Mr. X watched he took me away from the school. The time from the first day
    I was brought up here was seven days. I asked Mr. X what was wrong with
    the lessons and was told xk I was recalled on the instructions of Dr. Harper.
    I was told Dr. Ellis said

    I could never be a teacher. I have been trying to
    me
    get him to give reason. Théwanted k: to sign a withdrawal but skx I
    did not do so. I have bee trying to get Dr. Ellis to give reasons. He
    would not give reasons - just said I was nsa unsuited for teaching. I
    continued to try to get reasons - they were verbal and was told they could not
    be put into writing. Then I applied for a hearing. I got B and B+ km in my
    courses. Dr. Harper did not apparently find me unsuitable, but I was in the
    school only thirteen days, with four others, and only gave a few lessons and
    /
    don't feel I was given a fair trial. The teacher and the Principal said they
    had nothing to do with the withdrawal. Of the nine people said to find me
    unsuitable 3 had never seen me teach, two had only met me once and the other
    six
    only one day. Those who were in a position to judge - the teacher and
    the Principal - said they had nothing to do with the withdrawal. Mr. Johns
    did not have much criticism - he said I didn't smile when giving lessons.
    In answer to the question if she had had an opportunity to judge herself:
    "I gave less than five hours of lessons. None of the other students were

    in such a short time.

    I felt I did just as wake well as the
    others. The Principal watched two of my lessons. Criticism was made -

    but I was supposed to be there to be trained."

    In answer to a question as to whether Dr. Ellis
    had given reasons for
    withdrawal:
    "I wont repeat them.
    It seems to me that they can be put in writing and
    had nothing to do with teaching ability at all.
    I heard different things
    each time I was interview and none of then had to
    do with tea chine.
    Why
    was I not criticised and given an opportunity to
    improve? This was to be
    the first seven weeks of practice teachine and we
    were told that within the
    first seven weeks we would not be judged.
    Dr. MacKinnon
    said I might go
    to teaching at UBC or teaching at higher levels.
    He said that if he had
    handled the matter himself he would have gone out
    kciax to the school and
    investigated himself."
    Asked if she was of the opinion that she was a
    good teacher:
    "I think I 3X was teaching better than average"
