CODE OF CONDUCT FOR STUDENTS

1.
GENERAL
This code of conduct is issued under the authority of the Senate, Simon
Fraser University, in accordance with section 54-N of the Universities Act
of British Columbia and is applicable to all students registered in the
University. The enforcement of the rules and regulations contained in this
code is the responsibility of the Faculty, University officers and security
patrol. Offenders are subject to disciplinary action under this code.
Disciplinary action taken in accordance with this code does not preclude the
possibility of civil action as a result of breaking the law of the land.
The University does not assume parental obligations or responsibilities, but
relies on the good sense and home training of the students in matters of
personal conduct. The University expects the students to corLduct'themselves
at all times in a manner which will be a credit to the University.
2.
FACULTY COUNCIL
Faculty Council exercises disciplinary jurisdiction over these regulations
and may impose fines and punishments for offences against these regulations.
3.
TRAFFIC AND SECURITY PATROLS
The University Traffic and Security Patrol officers, under the supervision of
the Traffic, Security and Fire Prevention Supervisor, are delegated authority
to enforce the Code of Conduct.
4.
IDENTIFICATION
Any student, when called upon to do so by Faculty or a University officer,
or Security Patrol personnel, must produce his University Registration Card.
5. GAMBLING
Any form of gambling for money, or for any monetary equivalent is illegal and
therefore is prohibited within the

precincts of the University.
6.
INTOXICATING LIQUORS
Drinking of intoxicating liquors, unless authorized under the Liquor Control
Acts, is an offence under the Act and is prohibited. Persons showing evidence
of being under the influence
of intoxicating liquor while on
the University
campus will be subject to immediate eviction from the premises or such other
action as is deemed warranted under the circumstances existent at the time.
7. UNLAWFUL
ACTS
The use of University equipment or facilities without authority or the theft,
malicious damage or misuse of University equipment or facilities, is unlawful.

QPMENT
The removal of University furnishings and equipment from one location to
another
within the campus without authority is not permitted.
