Report of the Chair
The Chair welcomed Nimal Rajapakse, the new Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences,
to his first meeting of Senate and, on behalf of Senate and the University, expressed thanks
and appreciation to the following outgoing interim Deans: Joan Coilinge, Acting Dean of
Continuing Studies; Suzanne de Castell, Acting Dean, Faculty of Education; Owen
Underhill, Acting Dean, Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology; and Ze-Nian
Li, Acting Dean, Faculty of Applied Sciences.

under delegated authority, approved a new course and changes to existing courses in
Computing Science, as well as a change of requirements for the Geographic Information
Science (GIS) Major/Honors Program.

The Secretary reported that no further nominations had been received so the names as
shown on Senate Paper S.09-95 were declared elected by acclamation. Outstanding
vacancies would be carried forward to the next meeting of Senate.

Information
There is no meeting of Senate in August. The date of the next regularly scheduled
meeting of Senate is Monday, September 14, 2009.
The Open Session adjourned at 5:34 pm, and Senate moved directly into Closed Session.
