Ret,ort of the Chairman
The Acting Chairman reported that the President was unable to attend the meeting
because he and representatives from the other universities had been summoned to a meeting
with the Premier as part of his announced set of talks with various sectors throughout the
Province.
Senate was also informed of the following changes to Senate membership: (a) C. Jones
elected by joint faculty to replace G. Strate until he returns from his leave on August 31, 1986;
(b) resignation/termination of two Student Senators: B. Archer and J
.
C. Muscroft. Replacements
for the two student positions on Senate (from present to May 31, 1986) will be sought in a by-
election which will be held at the same time as the regular student elections to Senate in March.

That Senate approve and recommend approval to the Board
of Governors, as set forth in S.86-21, the following
curriculum changes:
i)
Prerequisite and curriculum revisions including new
course MACM 300-3 Introduction to Formal Languages and
Automata with Applications, and deletion of MACM 306-3
Introduction to Automata Theory,
ii)
Changes to Upper Division Degree Requirements for
majors"
R. Saunders noted that both Computing Science and Math 8c Statistics were in agreement with
the proposal before Senate.
