P. Cripps suggested that -the information reports of the Senate
Committee on Undergraduate Studies (through Papers S.81-120, 81-121,
81-122, 81-123) would be more useful if submitted in a summary, rather
than synopsis, form. His position was supported by the student caucus.
The Secretary provided a brief history of the terms of reference of
SCUS and the decision of Senate to delegate certain of its powers to
that Committee, with intent that SCUS exercise power of decision and
that a number of relatively routine items that had occupied the time

of Senate in debate and decision be removed to the SCUS level and that
report to Senate be at its next meeting in a brief summary form. J.
Munro expected that if more information is required than that now
provided any interested Senator would request it from the Secretary.
Some members indicated their desire for more routine provision of
information. The Chairman noted the concerns expressed.
