    The minutes of the Open Session of February 4, 1980 were approved
    as distributed.

    BUSINESS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES
    There was no business arising from the minutes.
    4.
    REPORT OF CHAIRMAN
    The Chairman commented on a recent conference of high school and
    college counsellors arranged by the University which he regarded as
    highly successful and thanked the Registrar and his staff for their help
    and cooperation in hosting the function. He noted that the 1980 Open
    House will be featured at SFU on March 8 and 9, and asked that Senators
    make an effort to be in attendance.
    A visit by the President to the International Development Research
    Centre in Ottawa has prompted the initiation of a Fall meeting at SFU,
    similar in format to one being convened in the Ontarioregion this Spring,
    to which representatives from the sister institutions in B.C. and Alberta
    will be invited.
    With respect to a recent, review of the financial aid program by the
    Minis:try of Science and Communications, the President has requested
    details. of the review.
    The Premier of the Province has responded to the President regarding
    financing of student residences and has stated that the Ministry of
    Science and Communications will be willing to discuss the matter further.
