The next regular meeting of Senate normally would be held on
September 12, but that meeting has been cancelled as a result of few
agenda items.
The date of the next regular meeting is Monday, October 3, 1977.
Agenda items and papers for the October meeting will be required by the
Secretary by 4:30 p.m., Thursday, September 15, 1977. These items and
papers will then be considered by the Senate Committee on Agenda and Rules
on Tuesday, September 20, with distribution on Friday, September 23, 1977.
Among other items, the agenda for that meeting is expected to
include the usual Fall elections to many Senate Committees, the consideration
of candidates for degrees, a report from the Senate Committee on Honorary
Degrees, a progress report on interior
,
program planning, the Annual Report
of the Senate Committee on University Budget, and curriculum items.
Toward the close of the Fall semester it is expected that Senate
• ?
will have for consideration two repOrts related to grading. The Chairman
of SCUS forwarded to Deans of Faculties and other bodies on July 8 a
"Report on Grading" with responses required by October
14;
and forwarded
on July 15 a report on "Recommendations on Grading Practices," with res-
ponses required by October 14. Following the responses, SCUS and other
bodies affected plan to give consideration and make final reports to Senate.
This data is included at this time as a reminder to the pertinent bodies
of the rapidly approaching deadline.
