    REPORTS OF COMMITTEES
    1. Senate Committee on Undergraduate Studies
Paper S.71-122 - Curriculum Changes: New Undergraduate Course,
    Kinesiology 344-3
Moved by S. Aronoff, seconded by R. Carlson,
"That Senate approve the new course proposal
    from the Senate Interdisciplinary Committee
on Kinesiology'- Kinesiology 344-3 - Theory
of Creative Movement - as set forth in Paper
    S.71-122."
Several Senators questioned the rationale for the numbering of
the course, and R. Brown advised that all undergraduate offerings in
Kinesiology were undergoing review and the lower level numbers were
being revised. D. Sullivan was of the opinion that care should be
taken in the numerical designations and that there appeared to be no
reason for the course signifying the upper division. S. Aronoff
stated that the course number indicated there was sophistication of
upper division scholastic knowledge and that there was also conven-
    ience of scheduling involved.
Amendment was moved by D. Sullivan, seconded by K. Rieckhoff,
"That Senate approve the course as stated,
but not approve the numerical designation,
with a number at the 100 or 200 level to
be worked out with the Registrar."

Program in Kinesiology for more informa-
    tion."

    MAIN MOTION CARRIED
    2. Senate Committee on Rules and Procedures Pertaining to Professional
    Conduct
Paper S.71-123 - A Report of the Senate Committee on Rules and
    Procedures Pertaining to Professional Conduct
The Chairman noted that this paper was before Senate for informal
discussion only, and he introduced the Chairman of the Committee, C. R.
Day, who in turn introduced the members of the Committee, J. S. Barlow,
    R.J.C. Harper, L. M. Prock, M. S. O'Connell and P. L. Wagner.
    R. Day outlined the historyof the organization of the Committee
and the motion approved by Senate at its meeting of September 23, 1968,
which was "That Senate appoint an ad hoc Committee consisting of
    six
members and charge it with bringing before Senate recommendations with
regard to rules and procedures for considering allegations of non-
professional conduct of faculty members." He stated that the purpose
of the report was to provide a means by which faculty can deal with
complaints of faculty and students and in so doing to police itself
and to regulate its own affairs in a fair and democratic spirit.
A number of clerical errors in the document were pointed out by
the Committee Chairman, and it was made clear that a further draft
would be prepared, taking into consideration the comments and criti-
cisms of Senate and the legal opinion of the University counsel.
The paper was discussed point by point, with numerous questions
being satisfactorily answered by the Committee Chairman. In general
the report of the Committee was favorably received, but many issues
    were noted for further consideration.
