    S.M. 12/1/70
The Chairman suggested that the meeting move into Closed Session
at 10:00 p.m. in order that Senate could hear a report of the Senate
    Committee on Honorary Degrees.
Moved by M. Campbell, seconded by J. Kenward,
"that Senate move into Closed Session following
completion of Item 3 of the agenda."
Question was called, and a vote taken.
    MOTION CARRIED
    4 opposed
    1. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
The agenda was approved as distributed with the note that the
assembly move into Closed Session after the completion of Item 3 on
the agenda, and move back into Open Session upon completion of the
    Closed Session agenda.
    2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
    a)
    Minutes of December 1, 1969
    L. Srivastava requested, following a further check of the tape,
that the name of K. Burstein be substituted for L. Srivastava in the
first part of paragraph 1 on page 3 of the minutes of December 1, 1969.
The minutes of December 1, 1969 were approved subject to review of the
    tape recording of the session.
(Note: The tape recording of the appropriate section was checked by
the Secretariat and it was noted that the minutes were correct as re-
corded, and therefore no change was made in the minutes of December 1,
    1969.)
    b)
    Minutes of December 8, 1969
    A. MacKinnon requested a minor correction in connection with
the Faculty of Education - Pass/Withdrawal Proposal - Paper S.299. He
asked that where references appear in the minutes to PF 401, 402, and
    405
these be changed to read Education 401, 402, and 405. As there
were no further corrections, the minutes of December 8, 1969 were approved
    as amended
    3. BUSINESS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES
As a result of Mrs. Freiman's questions on interpretation of voting
carried on at the meeting of December 8, 1969, the Chairman agreed that
copies of the Rules of Procedure for the Senate would be distributed to
    .
all Senators. He pointed out that Robert's Rules of Order were the
authority in the event that Senate's Rules did not provide for the handling
    of particular points.
