To: Members of Senate
Upon receipt of the report from the Senate Committee on Rules and
Procedures, I met with the Senate Agenda Committee on March 17th to
discuss possible methods of implementing the final suggestion of
the Senate Committee on Rules and Procedures, i.e.,
"In conclusion, the Senate Committee on Rules and
Procedures urges the Chairman of Senate to take
all necessary and possible steps to obtain Senate
approval for these recommendations such that they
can be implemented at the next meeting of Senate."
.
The Senate Agenda Committee agreed that the only way that this could
be done would be by referendum; however, the Agenda Committee voted
two to one against putting this question before Senate by referendum.
I informed the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Rules and Procedures
of the decision by the Senate Agenda Committee. Subsequently a request
for a Special Meeting was received.
I have set Wednesday, March 26th, as the date for the Special Meeting.
