Faculty of Arts
Department of Modern Languages
Approval of the Calendar changes in the Department of
Modern Languages was granted contingent upon further study
and approval by the President, the Dean of Arts, the Chairman
of the Arts Faculty Curriculum Committee, the Acting 1-lead of
DML and the Registrar. The specific points to be clarified
were the changes in credit allotment to upper level German
courses, the policy regarding literature majors, the question
of how closely the Department was adhering to the contact hours
listed in the Calendar, and the suggestion that all levels of
Hindi could be taught
in
one group rather than in three
separate courses.
Department of Political Science, Sociology and Anthropology
The recommended increase in credit value from 5 to 6
for PSA 433 and 434 was not accepted. The matter was referred
back to the Faculty with the comment that such changes should
be accompanied by an explanation which will allow Senate to
make a rational judgment.
4.
Faculty of Education
Approved without comment.
5.
Faculty of Science
Department of Chemistry
The proposed wording to explain the Department's policy
on
the offering of 300 and 400 level courses in the Summer
semester was not accepted. The Dean of Science was asked to
provide a re-wording which would not make specific reference
to the Summer semester but which would state that the offering
of courses will depend on student enrolment.
6.
GRADUATE CALENDAR
Approved without comment.
7.
Date of next meeting: Monday January 8, 196 at 7 p.m.
