    STER EXAMINATION RESULTS
    b)
    The Registrar reported that he was unable to present a summary of the
    xarünation results at this time but that he will prepare a report for
    distribution before the next meeting of Senate.
    The Chairman suggested that the Registrar also present a discussion paper

    outlining machinery to provide for a review of the general pattern of
    marks within the University.

    That the grading scale proposed by the President's Committee be
    adopted with the exception of the explanation for the letter
    grade DEF.

    STUDENT DISCIPLI
    Some members of Senate expressed concern with the paper's concept of
    punishment. There was some support for the idea that punishment was
    not becoming outmoded in Society and that the University should not
    go on record as saying that it was.
    Some concern was also expressed over the section dealing with civil
    offences. It was pointed out that the University had wide latitude
    in deciding when to call in the Civil Authorities when confronted with
    an infraction of the civil or criminal law.

    That the discussion paper 'Student Discipline' prepared by
    R. N. Maud be forwarded to the Faculty Council with a copy
    of the comments expressed at this meeting.
