The Senate Committee on undergraduate Studies at
its meeting Of November 4th, 1975 took action which gives rise
to the following motion:
MOTION
That Senate approve the addition of requirements
for a minor in History such that "students intending to enter
the minor program must obtain at ],east nine hours credit in
100 and 200 divisiOn course work in History during the first
four levels."
Note Considerable discussion took place regarding the desir-
ability of lower division requirements for minors and, while
it was decided to recommend approval for the relatively modest
requirements requested by the History Department, SCUS has
referred the questio
n
of lower division minor prerequisites
to the Faculty of Arts for consideration of their general
usefulness.

Addition of Minor Requirements
for Prospective ?
"Students intending, to enter the
Minor, Major

minor program must obtain at least
and Honors Students ?
nine hours credit in 100 and 200

?
division course work in history
during the first four levels."
Rationale:
These were omitted from the75-76 calendar
by error. The department wishes to have
some pre-requisites for a minor but not
as many as for the major.
