TO: Senate Committee on Undergraduate Studies
FROM: Donna Moore, Acting Director of Admissions
RE: Minimum Number of Transfer Credits for BC University Transfer and BC Visiting
Students
At the December
5/06
meeting SCUS approved in principle the SCEMP Motion on
Minimum Number of Transfer Credits for BC and Yukon College Admission (SCUS 06-
38) "Applicants who met the University's admission requirements after completing grade
12 may be admitted on the basis of those requirements, provided they have attempted
fewer than 24 semester hours of transfer credit."
As a consequence the Chair of SCUS requested that the Acting Director of Admission
review the other BC Basis of Admission to determine if any of them need adjustment as a
consequence of the approved motion and present a recommendation at the next SCUS
meeting.
Recommendation: That BC University Transfer be revised to read as follows:
Applicants in good standing at other recognized universities may be admitted on
completion of at least 24 hours of transferable work with a minimum of 60% (2.0)
average.
Note: This change will also automatically apply to BC Visiting Students who are
evaluated as BC University Transfer students.
