Amendment of GP 29 to accommodate the search for a new Registrar

University Act indicates that the appointment procedures for the Registrar require the

approval of both Senate and the Board of Governors. Mr. Ron Heath will effectively be

retiring from his position as Registrar at the end of September 2006 after more than two

decades of service to SFU. Dr. Nello Angerilli, Acting Associate Vice-President,

Students and International, has requested that Senate and the Board approve a new search

process as soon as possible so that a search for Mr. Heath's replacement can get

underway shortly.

The Senate Committee on Agenda and Rules recommends the following for

consideration by Senate in order to facilitate the timely start of the search process:

Motion:

"that Senate approve and recommend to the Board of Governors that GP 29

(Search Committees for Vice-Presidents and Associate Vice-Presidents) be

amended so that the procedures for searching for an Associate Vice-President
