This is with further reference to a memorandum dated
October 26th,
1967,
describing deliberations of the October 17th
meeting of the
Scholarships and Awards Committee.
The matter of notation of scholarships on student's
transcripts was further discussed. It was agreed that only academic
scholarships, awards and prizes should be notated and athletic awards
and university awards should not appear on the transcript. It was
felt
that
the mechanics
of
such notations should be left to the
discretion of the Registrar..:

At a meeting of the Senate Scholarship and Awards Committee,
Tuesday, October 175 the matter concerned with inclusion of
scholarships and awards on transcripts was discussed. Previous
to this meeting members of the Scholarships and Awards Committee
had expressed their support to the effect that notations of
scholarships and awards should appear on the student's transcript.
This is a practice which is followed by a good number of universities
and it is then not necessary for a student to enumerate the
scholarships and awards when he applies for graduate studies else-
where, or when an application is submitted for a position. In a
discussion on the latest meeting of the Scholarships and Awards
Committee it was unanimously agreed that a procedure should be
developed by the Registrar in which the scholarships and awards
would be announced on the student's transcript. The Senate
Scholarships and Awards Committee therefore, very strongly urges
the Registrar to include scholarships and awards which students .....
have won in the past on their transcripts and, of

course, to continue
this practice in the future. This is of particular urgency since
Simon Fraser University will very soon in the future be graduating
a fairly large number of students.
