WHEREAS Senate strongly endorses the principle of freest possible inter-
change of students between post-secondary education institutions, and;
WHEREAS there is evidence of inequalities in the application of existing
regulations on admissions and;
WHEREAS there are allegations that non-academic criteria have been
applied in admissions.
BE IT RESOLVED THAT

1. All students from the provincial post-secondary education
institutions be admitted to Simon Fraser University upon
completion of a semester/year with a Grade Point Average of
2.0 or its equivalent.
2.
Transfer credits will be, at the discretion of the department
concerned
and
Senate, acceptable for advanced standing in all
departments, subject to full consideration of representation
by the student transfering.
3.
Non-academic criteria not be applied to refuse admission to
any applicant.
4.
Equivalent academic criteria be applied for all applicants
except for out-of-province applicants in which case no
.

criteria be applied that are higher than those applied by the
University of British Columbia.
5.
The maximum transfer credit be 90 semester hours.
6.
Senate abolish the Senate Sub-committee on Undergraduate
Admissions.
7.
Senate establish a new Admissions Board composed of three
students to be identified by the S. F. S. S. and three
faculty identified at large by Joint Faculty.
8.
The Admissions Board be responsible to Senate but that
Senate agree to ratify all unanimous decisions of the
Board.
9.
The Board formulate, publish and oversee the application
entrance criteria within the guidelines established in
this Motion.
10.
New entrance regulations be retro-active.
