Itfl-IEREAS the present crisis at Simon Fraser concerning admissions is in

large 'measure the result of there being no sound provincial policy for

post-secondary education and;

WHEREAS there are insufficient provincial funds to maintain high

standards at regional college and university levels and;

WHEREAS there is no enrolment limitation at Simon Fraser.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT Senate direct Acting President Strand to inform the

Provincial Government that

a)

Senate fully supports the President of the University of British

Columbia in his statement for immediate

and

substantial increases

in University education

financing,

and;

b)

Senate demand government action to ensure acceptable academic

standings and accreditations in provincial post-secondary

education institutions.
