Freedom of Transfer
I. the Academic Board be recognized as the sore authority to
establish a r'eoister of approved courses and programs in the b.C.
ecucational system. Any course or program on this register wiH
ciutomaticaHy be accepted for transfer credit (not necessarily advance
standino) throughout the b.C. System.
(Note this should not be
construed to conflict with existing policy whiCh permits a maximum
of 60 transfer credi ts,

In order to facilitate advance standing, The Senate require
all academic deoartmenls to make available oroficiency exams Cvritten
and/or oral) for all required courses in the 100 and 200 level.
If
a student passessuch a proficiency exam, he will automatically receive
advanced standing.
Periodically, the University will communicate the
frequency of pass and failure of proficiency exams to the schools from
which the students, who wrote the exams, transferred.

The Academic Deans be invited to attend as

one represenative chosen by 'the regional colleges and one representative

increase in capacity by virtue of the expected additions to -
the physical plant in the current and next fiscal year
2. that the President present to Senate a proposal for the
establishment of an office of Institutional research to provide
educational data to facilitate the long-range academic planning and
financing of the University.
