1. Recognizing that serious problems have arisen in respect of a
definitive and comprehensive admissions and standings policy,
especially in respect of transferability of credit and standing
from other British Columbia institutions, the Senate Committee
on Undergraduate Admissions and Standings recommends that the
Senate develop a policy on admissions and standings based on
the following general principles:
(a)
That consideration of admissions and standings be on
academic grounds only.
(b)
That the policy be a university policy based on general
rather than rimarily departmental criteria.
(c)
That Credit transfer to Simon Fraser University from
other British Columbia institutions be more liberal.
(d)
That this policy, when adopted by Senate, be made public.
2.
That the President name one member of faculty who will be charged
with the development of a definitive and comprehensive admissions
and standings policy.
3.
That the terms of reference for the above individual shall be:
(a)
Release from all other duties for a period of three
months.
(b)
Consultation with interested parties, both inside and outside
the University.
(c) That the policy when developed be submitted to the President
.
?
for subsequent approval by Senate.
