The Faculty of Arts, on April 16, approved the following calendar
changes:
(a) English Department - new course
300-3 -
Literature in Translation
The study of major genres of Western
Literature. Each semester the course
will concentrate on one major form
(Epic, Drama or Novel), including
selections from ancient Greek and
Roman Literature wherever possible.

(b) DML - removal of pre-requisite course
220-3 - Introduction to Geiieral Linguistics
Introductory survey to the field of linguistics
and its relation to other disciplines.
(c) Psychology Department - requirements for Honors
A. Admission
Psychology majors who contemplate undertaking
an Honors program in the Department must fill out
an application from requesting entry into the
program. This form is obtainable from the Depart-
mental office. The qualifications for admission
to Psychology Honors Program are:
1) Completion of 60 semester hours of
University course work with a

cumulative grade-point average of

not less than 3.0
•
2). Completion of at least 18 hours
of course work. in Psychology with
an over-all average of not less
than 3.0 in these courses.

Continuing
To remain in the Honors Program in Psychology,
the student must maintain a cumulative all-University
grade-point average of at least 3.0 as well as a
cumulative average of at least
3.0
in all psychology
courses taken. If the cumulative grade point average
(either all-University or for psychology courses) falls
below 3.0,
the student shall be sent a letter informing
him that he has been placed on Departmental probationary
status and stating the reason. If after one semester on
probation, the student has not removed the deficiency,
he shall be dropped from the Honors Program and will
revert to the status of a general degree student.
C.
Overall requirements
To qualify for the Honors degree in Psychology,
the student must have completed a minimum of 18 credits
in
Psychology during the first four levels and 50 credits
in Psychology or approved related courses during the last
four levels.
Specific courses in Psychology must include
101-3,
201-3, 210-3, 220-3, 230-3, 240- 3,
401
4 ' ;
at least two
honors seminars (exclusive of
401-5, 495-3, 4965).
In
additon at least one three or four-hour credit course in
the Faculty of Science (in addition to Math 101) is
required.
This proposal is now submitted to Senate for consideration.
