    To: Senate
    From: Registrar
    23 February, 1968
    Subject: Survey of Degree Transcripts at
    Canadian Universities
    In. the latter part of last year a survey was conducted
    covering 24 Canadian Universities to discover the practice of
    making a distinction on the degree transcripts and/or parchments.
    The results of the survey were as follows:
    Of the 19 Universities who showed a classification, only
    one criterion was used for all faculties.
    19 Universities showed a classification on their transcripts
    and 5 did not.
    11 Universities showed a classification on their degree
    parchments and 13 did not.
    The following methods were used for determining the
    classification:
    8 Universities used the average on all courses undertaken in
    the final two years;
    7 Universities used the overall-average for all courses for which the student
    2 used the last three years;
    registered;
    1 used the work of the final year only, and
    1 used the average of all Honors courses and comprêhensives.
