Subject: Release of Information
on Grade Distributions
The attached request from Notre Dame University
/of Nelson is one of a number which we receive in the course
of a year.
In addition to other Universities requesting
information on grade distributions, the students at
Simon Fraser would, I think, be interested in these figures.
Certainly in a recent Student Affairs Committee meeting the
students seemed quite interested that these figures were
tallied, and were keen on having permission to see these
figures.
Since we are very often interested in securing
this kind of information from other Universities, and since
for some purposes such as the evaluation of Regional Colleges
it is most important that we receive the information, I would
recommend to Senate that the Registrar .be permitted to release
the distribution of grades for all courses at Simon Fraser
at his discretion.
