Date
..............................................................................................................
I recently reviewed the terms of reference on the Committee
on Kinesiology and found some ambiguities which required clarification.
The changes in terms of reference which were brought to the Committee
and approved by the Senate Committee on October 5th are appended. I
believe that these should be brought to Senate for ratification at
an appropriate time.

INTERDISCIPLINARY coN rJ'ITE IN i: 1N)sJo1,0c;'
On February 6, 1967 the following
speci
fication was included in
a report of the Ad lice lntci'ciiscipi i nary Programs Committee to
Senate:
That an administrative body be set up to
administer thi
s
particular program which would
he chaired by the Dean of science rather than
create another dean:
t his committee to be
chaired by the )can of Science and have three
representatives from B i ol ogy and two from
Physical Development and one from P. S. A.
in actual. fact the situation developed in which the Deans of the
various Faculties named repi aCementS and these were not restricted
to the departments name
d
AMC.
b
The terms of reference of the Committee were ratified by Senate
?
on April 3, 1967. However, the membership was never specified
exactly nor werethe i:C3n5 of
S
electing members on the committee
designated. in practi
ce
the participating groups in the departments
named members as replacements as time cent on.
Mr. Kelsey's assessment of the situation is included in his letter
of September 2, 1970 (attached).
I suggest that the comai ttce consider the procedure outlined on
the accompanying paper. if this is considered satisfactory, I
believe it should be recommended to Senate for consideration and
approval.
