1.
On July 14, 1969, under Paper S.245, Senate approved, among other
items, the reorganization of the Senate Committee on Graduate
Admissions. This Committee consists of six members elected by
and from the Senate Committee on Graduate Studies, for a two year
term of office, with the Registrar as non-voting Secretary. It
is stipulated that the Chairman is to be elected by the Committee
from among the six voting members.
2.
The Senate Committee on Graduate Admissions submitted a request to
the Senate Committee on Graduate Studies that the Dean of Graduate
Studies be the Chairman of the Committee, and that until such time
as a Dean of Graduate Studies is selected the then Acting Academic
Vice-President assume the duty.
. ?
The Acting Academic Vice-President declined the duty.
3.
The Executive Committee of the Senate Committee on Graduate Studies
concurred with the President's proposal to assign the duties in the
area of Graduate Studies formerly carried by the Acting Vice-President,
Academic, to Dr. John Webster for the summer semester. This included
the following:
"If approved by Senate, the Chairmanship of the Senate
Committee on Graduate Admissions."
4.
Dr. Webster has been temporarily seated on Senate during the absence
of K. Rieckhoff but the temporary term of office terminates with Dr.
Rieckhoff's return. In view of the duties assigned to Dr. Webster
in Graduate Studies for the summer semester it is deemed necessary
that he be able to address Senate on matters pertaining to such duties.
Notices of Motions
Motion 1: That whilst J. Webster is assuming the duties in
Graduate Studies noted above, he assume the Chairman-
ship of the Senate Committee on Graduate Admissions.
Motion 2: That whilst J. Webster is undertaking the duties noted
above, he be granted speaking privileges at Senate.
Note: Attention is drawn to Paper S.361a which outlines the duties in
Graduate Studies assigned to J. Webster for the Summer semester.
