1.
In recent years Senate has directly concerned itself with the
Undergraduate Calendar submission and, following review by the
Senate Committee on Graduate Studies, the Graduate Calendar.
2.
In the latter part of 1969 Senate adjusted its procedures such
that the Undergraduate Calendar would be consolidated in the
Office of the Registrar, referred to individual departments for
review, and then presented to the printers - without necessity
of the calendar coming directly before Senate. The Registrar's
Office would undertake to ensure that changes approved by Senate
were
i
ncorporated in the calendar prior to submission of the
material for review purposes to the various departments.
3.
At that time no changes in the procedures for the Graduate Calendar
were indicated. However, discussions have been held with the
Executive Committee of the Senate Committee on Graduate Studies
and with the Senate Committee on Graduate Studies and a change in
procedures is recommended.
3. The Senate Committee on Graduate Studies gave authority for the
Executive Committee to review the Graduate Calendar on its behalf.
Procedures similar to those adopted for preparation of the
Undergraduate Calendar were undertaken. Specifically, the
Registrar's Office was charged with reviewing those items approved
by Senate throughout the past year, for inclusion in the Graduate
Calendar for 1970-71. This has been done, and the consolidated
materials have been provided to the appropriate departments for
review. Necessary adjustments and corrections have been incor-
porated in the materials presently consolidated within the
Registrar's Office.
The Executive Committee of the Senate Committee on Graduate Studies
has approved the Graduate Calendar, subject to consideration of
three items at the April meeting of Senate. The three items are
those concerned with the submission from the Department of Màdern
Languages, the submission from the Department of History including
Course 896-5, and Course Psychology 725 from the Department of
Psychology.
• With the exception of the items noted above, the Executive Committee
of the Senate Committee on Graduate Studies has approved the con-
solidation of the Graduate CaIeiidar. It has further approved the

consolidation of the calendar including the above items, subject to any
adjustments necessary on the basis of Senate decision on these items.
4. The following motion is presented to Senate for approval:-
"That the preparation of the Graduate Calendar for
1970-71 and subsequent years be undertaken by the
Office of the Registrar along the same lines as those
approved for preparation of the Undergraduate Calendar
(ref. S. 303)."
