In March, 1968, a proposal was submitted to the Board

>f Governors proposing the creation of a third Vice-Presidential

osition within the University; the position identified was a

lice-President for External Affairs. The proposal was adopted

y the Board and efforts were then made to employ an appropriate

ndividual for the position. These efforts were unsuccessful.
